Graduated from the University of Oslo in 1964. Various positions in several ministries before joining The Norwegian Shipowners Association in 1968. Held different positions, a director in 1980, deputy director general in 1985 and Director General in 1992. Chairman of the Board in several companies including The Governmental Pension Fund.

Graduated from the University of Oslo and MBA INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France. He was employed by Citibank N.A in Piraeus and London between 1971 and 1977, ending up as Vice President in charge of Shipping in Northern Europe. From 1978 to 1982 he worked as one of the founding partners of the Norwegian corporate law firm Gram, Hambro Garman, Oslo. In 1982 he left law practice to start P. D. Gram Co., to concentrate on shipping investments. Gram was non-executive board member of Citibank AS, Oslo (100% owned by Citicorp) from 1985 until it was converted to a branch office in 1994.

Educated at the Norwegian School of Business Management (BI) (siv øk). Steimler worked previously as project manager with DnB Corporate, shipping. He has since 1991 worked with P. D. Gram & Co. related companies developing new projects. Managing director of C. H. Sørensen & Sønner AS and director of Alpha Properties group.
